Professional Experience

Current and past engagements across not-for-profit finance, small business bookkeeping and systems migration.

Where I've Done the Work

Real engagements with real stakeholders — finance teams, treasurers, and committees relying on accurate books and sound recommendations.

Casual Bookkeeper
Sep 2026 – Present
LifeLinkConnected — Perth, WA
Casual engagement covering the full transaction cycle and the statutory reporting calendar for an ACNC-registered not-for-profit.
  • Prepare the ACNC Annual Information Statement and supporting annual reporting.
  • Prepare and lodge quarterly Business Activity Statements, reconciling GST to the ledger before lodgement.
  • Process accounts receivable and accounts payable end to end, from invoice entry through to payment and receipt allocation.
  • Administer volunteer reimbursements, settling each as a liability to the person who incurred the cost against substantiating documentation.
Finance Officer and Bookkeeping Support
Jun 2026 – Present
International Volunteers for Peace — Remote
Pro bono finance support for a volunteer-run non-profit. I own the Xero cash cycle end to end and prepare the committee's monthly reporting pack across two cost centres.
  • Process cash receipts, cash payments and volunteer reimbursements in Xero weekly, chasing missing or unclear remittance advice directly with the people involved.
  • Review the general ledger against the trial balance and account transaction detail reports before month-end close.
  • Produce a usable-cash calculation that reconciles total cash to unrestricted funds, nets off auspiced balances, payables and commitments not yet in the ledger, then applies a six-month operating reserve.
  • Prepare consolidated and entity-level profit and loss, statement of assets and liabilities, budget variance and grant tracking from Xero general ledger exports.
  • Cleared an inherited two-month reconciliation backlog across four bank accounts in my first week, putting month-end reporting back on schedule.
  • Took eight unresolved remittance items to zero before close and corrected six coding and posting errors, including a subscription miscoded by a prior bookkeeper that proved to be a recurring prior-year pattern.
  • Modelled the consolidated and cost-centre statements in Excel, cutting month-end pack preparation to 30 minutes.
  • Drafted a cash reserve policy for committee sign-off and built the usable-cash reporting the committee now uses for liquidity decisions.
Business Advisory
May 2026 – Jul 2026
Darling Downs Environment Council — Remote
Short-term pro bono advisory engagement for a registered environmental non-profit, rebuilding budget-versus-actuals reporting around MYOB exports and a repeatable monthly handoff across eight funded grant streams.
  • Built a budget versus actuals reporting model in Excel, pulling MYOB exports through Power Query to work around the reporting limits of the MYOB Business plan.
  • Established a Google Drive for Desktop hotfolder as the MYOB-to-Excel handoff, replacing emailed CSVs and ad hoc desktop saves with a single monthly export that refreshes the PivotTable report on open.
  • Led MYOB Jobs migration planning across the grant streams, mapping the legacy spreadsheet workflow and sequencing cutover for committee approval.
  • Found a Gift Fund compliance gap during a workflow walkthrough and escalated it to the committee with remediation steps.
  • Redesigned the Stripe payment workflow around a clearing-account model, replacing manual reconciliation with a repeatable MYOB process.
In-House Bookkeeper
Jan 2023 – Dec 2024
Quickweb.co.nz — Tauranga, New Zealand
In-house bookkeeper for a family-run IT and web services business, covering payables and receivables, cash handling, inventory records and month-end journals.
  • Two-way matched bills and invoices averaging 60 a month, with every item allocated by the cut-off deadline.
  • Handled cash and banking in line with the business's depositing procedure, with no unauthorised payments processed.
  • Ran a month-end aged receivables schedule in Excel, escalating overdue accounts at 30, 45 and 60 days.
  • Maintained periodic inventory records and month-end adjusting journals across five stock lines.
  • Sequenced payment runs to keep every creditor inside terms, including the annual prepayment of internet registrar services.
  • Built knowledge management and process automation that removed roughly five hours of manual data entry a month.
WIL Placement: Analyst
Nov 2023 – Feb 2024
Fisher & Paykel Healthcare — via University of Waikato
Independent industry placement: a semester-long financial analysis project with fortnightly milestone reporting and minimal supervisor oversight.
  • Managed the full project lifecycle independently with bi-weekly reporting to a supervisor.
  • Performed ratio analysis and disclosure benchmarking against industry comparators.
  • Produced an analytical dissertation supplemented with native Excel data analysis and visualisation.
Crew Member
Mar 2024 – Present
McDonald's — Canning Vale WA
Two and a half years with the same employer while studying, and my first sustained exposure to how Australian workplaces actually run.
  • Held the role for over two years with the same store, and was moved from casual to permanent part-time on the strength of that record.
  • Kept good working relationships across a large rotating roster, including managers, crew and customers, which is most of what makes a shift run.
  • Learned Australian workplace norms first-hand: rostering, award conditions, WHS and food-safety compliance, and the directness people here expect at work.
